Product Details

Back from the fabulous framers (Homeframe, Plymouth) is this amazing……

18thC Oil on Board Armorial Coat of Arms Painting for the 7th Earl of Northesk, Admiral William Carnegie (1756- 1831).
The 7th Earl was a British naval officer who served during the American Revolutionary War, French Revolutionary War, and Napoleonic Wars. While in command of HMS Monmouth he was caught in the Nore Mutiny of 1797 and was the officer selected to relay the demands of the mutineers to George III. He most notably served as third-in-command of the Mediterranean Fleet at the Battle of Trafalgar in HMS Britannia. He later became Rear-Admiral of the United Kingdom and Commander-in-Chief, Plymouth.
This super rare, extremely extraordinary find could quite possibly been at the “Battle of Trafalgar”. (After The Battle of Trafalgar, the word “Trafalgar” was added to the crest)
It’s been floated within the frame over a Ruby red velvet interior, to the back is a rear viewing window so the reverse of the board can been seen and the actual painted surface has seen some action at some stage in its life. It’s been protected behind UltraVue anti-reflective glass to preserve the colours for many years to come and overall it measures 14” x 17”.
One of a kind & a great piece of naval history!
