Fabulous Antique Abertillery & District Boys Brigade Drum Major Marching Mace (d.1921)
This is one heck of a find and has been given a tickle of the M&K feather duster. It has a wonderful used patina, made in malacca , partly japanned with a silver plated tip, mid staff tassel rings and crowned head.
It’s made & marked by the famous London silversmiths “WM Hawkes & Son” in 1921 and was presented & engraved to “Captain HL Berryman, Commanding Officer of the Abertillery District
Battery Boys Brigade, on its Formation in May 1921” (5ft H)
It’s in fine fettle with the odd dent and imperfection commensurate with its age and use and is definitely one of a kind!
