Well what can I say about this, it has so much historical information applied to it, it’s hard to know where to start!
This 34” Merchant or Royal Navy bamboo walking cane is in fine fettle, and is adorned with a sperm whales tooth that’s engraved with “Cdr Page Phillips” which forms the handle. Below is a solid silver collar thats engraved with “The
Devonshire Club SW” and “The Grange Melton”.
The Devonshire club was a 19thC exclusive gentleman’s club established in 1876 in the old St James street premises of “Crockfords Club” in London. I’m not sure what the Grange Melton is referring too but may be a section of the Devonshire Club.
Overall, it’s in great condition with bags of history and patina!
