Extremely Rare Solid Bronze Builders Unofficial Royal Navy HMS Battleaxe Gun Tampion (c.1943)

Bizarrely, apart from a re-acquisitioned Russian trawler in 1916 (for 18months), the RN had never named a ship Battleaxe until 1945, when they commissioned a Weopon Class Destroyer with the name. Shortly after commissioning, the admiralty authorised a badge (July 1945) for the 1st time, which is similar to the one above but without the waves.

The painted bronze badge is well presented on 8” mahogany base.

Doubt I’ll ever find another one!
