Here we have an Extremely Rare Full Set of Royal Navy HMS Jupiter 3” Chaff Launcher Ceremonial Barrel Covers or Tampions.
HMS Jupiter (F60) was a Batch 3 Leander-class frigate of the RN, commissioned in 1969.
She had a busy service career which included West Indies, Stanaforlant, Global, Far East & Middle East Deployments. She was involved in the 2nd Cod War with Iceland, Ist Gulf War whilst on Armilla Patrol, Gibraltar Guard-ship and also enjoyed television fame as the
frigate the BBC used for filming “Warship” as HMS Hero. Her final deployment was to the Falkland Islands as the S. Atlantic guard ship before decommissioning in 1992 after her final visit to her home town of Middlesbrough.

These are the original set of either Port or Starboard, chromed 3” chaff launcher barrel covers and are in excellent condition. They all have the odd mark etc commensurate with their age and use and all 3 have the original cast metal ships badges to the centre. The inside still has the impressions made by the 3 barrels that these would of covered whilst alongside in harbour (ceremonial only)
Each one measures 26” x 8.5” x 4” with the badge measuring 8” x 5”.
