Fabulous & Extremely Rare 19thC Maritime Lithograph signed by Thomas Goldsworthy Dutton (d.1853) of HMS Leander.
Thomas Goldsworthy Dutton (1820–1891) was a 19th-century English marine draftsman, watercolourist, painter, and etcher and regarded as the finest maritime lithographer of his time.
This totally original hand coloured signed lithograph of the Royal Navy 50 Gun HMS Leander is in fine fettle with the odd imperfection, crease and foxing commensurate with its age and use.
It’s titled “appointed to convey the Royal Commissioners to the exhibition at New York”,
possibly the Exibitiin of the Industry of all Nations 1853 in Bryant Park New York.
This was published by Ackermann & Co of the Strand London dated May 25th 1853 and is signed by TG Dutton to the bottom left. It’s well presented in a early 20thC gilt frame that measures 2ft x 20” H.
(Some sun shadows are cast across the photos)
These rare Dutton marine lithographs regulary sell for 4 figures at Christie’s or Bonhams so don’t dally.
