Here we have an amazing Scratch Built Motorised Model of the Shell Mex MT Hamble Of Glasgow (c.1960’s)
Hamble was an order from Shell Mex & B.P.Co Ltd, being the first ship of a two ordered for the company.
She was a single screw coastal tanker of 1182 tons, with a length between perpendiculars of 202 feet, with a beam of 36 feet and 11 inches, and a design draught of 15 feet and 6 inches. She was launched on 29th of April 1964 from the Leith Shipyards along with her sister
ship “Killingholme”
Hamble was to be lengthened and deepened in 1982, in Canada and now goes along under a different name “Marine Supplier”
This is in fine fettle and incredibly well constructed, the detail is a feast for the eyes and is well scaled. The interior is fitted with a battery powered motor, which seems complete but is untested and overall it measures 34”L x 6”W x 15”H.
Great addition to any collection!
