Original Ivan Berryman Oil on Canvas Painting of SS Canberra & HMS Argonaut (Falklands)
This incredibly detailed large (29” x 41”) signed oil on canvas depicts the ex-P&O Liner Canberra (now troopship), being shielded in San Carlos Waters, Falkland Island’s in May 1982 by the Leander class frigate HMS Argonaut, whilst being flown over by a Wessex helicopter.
This
is unmistakably hand painted & signed by the famous artist Ivan Berryman. Over the last 30 years, Berryman has become a leading aviation, motor racing and naval artist in his field. His passion and the perception for his subjects really shine through with an exactness unequalled by other similar artists and this painting is no exception!
It’s professionally presented in this gilt wooden frame, which is a good contrast against the artwork making it pop and it is signed by the artist to the lower left, dated 2007.
Berryman oils obviously fetch a high premium, with a similar SS Canberra, painted on its own recently fetching £2200 and some other famous naval battle oils priced at £15000.
So this is a good chance to own this wonderful artwork at a reasonable price.
