Beautiful Solid Silver Art Nouveau Card or Cigarette Case by Lattey Bros & Co Calcutta (d.1911).
This is simply stunning, made in Calcutta in 1911 and marked Sterling Silver by Lattey Bros & Co (Est 1835), who were the most prominent Indian Silversmith’s during the colonial years creating a plethora of high end products for the British Empire based in Calcutta, Madras & Simla.
This fabulously designed case has a sprung hinge, gilt interior and a Ruby coloured cabochon set into
the lid. The interior is also engraved with “To Harry Norton from J Shrager, Calcutta 1911”. It’s in fine fettle with a very strong sprung hinge, it measures 9cm x 7cm and can either be used for cards or a few cigarettes
