Superb Early Heavy Royal Navy HMS Queen Elizabeth Mounted Gun Tampion or Badge (c.1914)

HMS Queen Elizabeth was the lead ship of her class of five dreadnought battleships built for the RN, commissioned in 1914.
She served in WW1 as part of the Grand Fleet, and participated in Dardanelles with the rest of her service during the war generally consisted of routine patrols and training in the North Sea. She was extremely busy during the interwar period, attending 2 fleet reviews, the Abyssinia Crisis and Spanish Civil War, acting as a blockade. Queen Elizabeth later served in several theatres during the Second World War, and was finally scrapped in 1948.
This fabulous piece of naval history is made from either steel or cast iron with a solid bronze nameplate ribbon below, all mounted and rear screwed to a shield shaped piece of mahogany (7” x 6”)
