Vintage Royal Navy HMS Broadsword (D31) Chromed Gun Cover or Tampion (c.1948-68)
This fabulous find is in fine fettle and I can only surmise because of its composition and the fact that the Type 22 version didn’t have a gun, that this is one of the six 4”DP gun barrel ceremonial covers off the Weapon Class Destroyer, HMS Broadsword.
The
painted metal badge is fixed to the chrome cover via 3 screws and is fitted with a barrel securing bolt to the base. Overall it has a diameter of 7.75” and has a good overall used patina.
(If anyone thinks it’s off the Type 22, I’m all ears)
