WW1 Sopwith Strutter or Pup Propeller Boss 10 Day Mantel Clock (c.1916)
The Sopwith Strutter is a British single or twin seat multi-role biplane aircraft of the First World War and the Pup is a British single-seater biplane fighter aircraft built again, by the Sopwith Aviation Company. It entered service with the Royal Naval Air Service and the Royal Flying Corps in the autumn of 1916.
The
clock frame is in great used condition and made from a used, repurposed mahogany central boss from one of the aforementioned aircraft propellers. It’s fitted with a 1920-30’s mechanical 10 day timepiece with platform escapement and works well, keeping good time.
It’s well presented on a brass stand upon a mahogany plinth and overall measures 11”H x 12”W x 5”D.
Simply superb!
