Fantastic Large Vintage Ships Bronze Navigational Fog Bell, Cradle and Bell rope. (C.1920-40’s)
This is in great used condition with plenty of worn patina. The 23” x 14” solid steel red cradle is purpose built and would be bolted to the gunwales on the foc’sle part of a ship, suspending the 11”H x 10” diameter bell which when rung, would alert other shipping in the vicinity of your presence in thick fog. This was an extremely tedious job (got the t-shirt) but also very
important. It has its original clanger and sailor made 21”L bell rope.
